Richard Franklin Nichols was born on December 14, 1935 in Hollywood, California. He worked in movies from 6-months-old until about 12 years. He was the youngest of seven children, most of whom worked in movies. Older brothers worked in "Our Gang" comedies and in "The East Side Kids". Both Ray Nichols and Paul Nichols had parts in Boys Town (1938) with Spencer Tracy. Eddie Nichols played in Incendiary Blonde (1945). Betty Jean Nichols played in The Bells of St. Mary's (1945). His first movie was as an infant in Don't Turn 'em Loose (1936) in 1936; he had small parts in The Blue Bird (1940) and Swing, You Swingers! (1939). Four of the family played the four siblings in a home in Vigil in the Night (1940); he and his sister, Betty, had small parts in Hitler's Madman (1943); and he made many more appearances as a child actor. He attended Hollywood Professional School (1st Grade), Vine Street Elementary, Bancroft Junior High, and Hollywood High School. Later, he was a minister for 44 years and is now retired and living in the South. His wife is from Mississippi and they have two daughters and seven grandchildren.
