Tim Oliehoek (1979) attended to the Dutch Film and Television Academy when he was only 18 years of age. His admittance was secured by having shot his first two-and-a-half hour action movie BUY OR DIE prior to his arrival at the esteemed university. Not only did Tim already poses an uncanny ability for film making but he received a generous amounts of press for his past and future endeavors. Tim ultimately graduated in 2001 with the film 'ISABELLE' based on the acclaimed novel of Dutch author Tessa de Loo. This film was nominated for a Tuschinski Award and won a Student Award at the USA Film Festival. As a follow up in 2002, Tim directed THE CHAMP which was nominated for a Student Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Since his graduation he has gone on to direct numerous commercials and short films. His television film 15 35 SPOOR 1 was nominated for the Prix d'Italia, and was broadcasted by BNN on Dutch National Television. Having done numerous short films Tim still felt a need to fill his childhood dream of directing full length feature films. In 2005 Tim directed his feature debut entitled VET HARD (English title TOO FAT TOO FURIOUS), which was a great success in both its theatrical release as well as on home video. In 2006 and 2007, in between his feature film projects, Tim went on to direct 18 episodes of the National Television series 'SHOUF SHOUF', based on the film SHOUF SHOUF HABIBI! (2004). This television-series won the Spanish award Premios Ondas and was nominated for the European award Rose d'Or. In February 2009 his second feature film SPION VAN ORANJE (English title SPY OF THE QUEEN) was released in Dutch theaters. A spy-comedy starring the well renowned Dutch television comedian, singer and actor Paul de Leeuw. The feature film PIZZAMAFFIA was released in February 2011. Based on a novel by Khalid Boudou. His fourth film CHEZ NOUS (English title 'QUEEN OF AMSTERDAM') was released in theatres in early October 2013. A romantic comedy written by Frank Houtappels. His first family movie THE AMAZING WIPLALA, based on the book by famous dutch writer Annie MG Schmidt was released in late 2014. The movie was embraced by many film critics and, in December, it received The Golden Film Award. Wiplala was nominated for a Rembrandt Award, won the Golden audience award at the Mill Valley Film Festival in California, was the big winner of the Ale Kino! on Tour film festival in Poland and also was among the favorites at the filmfestival of Griffoni, Toronto and Zlín. At the India International Children's Film Festival in Mumbai, the film received two awards: one for 'best picture' and one for 'best director'. In 2016 Tim directed a three-part television miniseries THE MENTEN CASE. The series is based on the true story of journalist Hans Knoop, trying to uncover the truth behind the not yet convicted war criminal Pieter Menten. The story takes place in the 70's, 40's and 30's. The show received a very positive response from TV critics and reached more than 1 million viewers. The series won a Dutch TV-Award, a Director's NL Award, a Nipkow nomination, a Rockie Award in Canada, and is the Dutch entry for the American Emmy Awards of 2017. Tim is currently working on the film adaptation of the book THE SECRET DIARY OF HENDRIK GROEN. The 12-part series with Kees Hulst and André van Duin can be seen from October 2017 on Dutch Television.
