Don Lynch is a historian with the Titanic Historical Society. He co-authored the book 'Titanic: An Illustrated History' in 1992 with Ken Marschall, who he has collaborated with for over thirty years. Lynch has an extensive collection of Titanic memorabilia and even more extensive knowledge of the subject. He has collaborated with several other authors and documentary filmmakers as a consultant and archival material supplier, and also assisted James Cameron during the production of the film Titanic (1997). He appears, uncredited, in the film as passenger Frederick Spedden in two scenes. First, he watches his character's son spin a top on the boat deck. Just after the crash, he tosses a chunk of ice to another first class passenger. During his years of research, Lynch has also become acquainted with survivors of the Titanic and their families and descendants, and has also assisted with expeditions to the ship's resting place.
