Ellen lives in New York City, where she works as a writer, director, filmmaker and actor. She received her MFA from Columbia University's Graduate Film School, where she also taught screenwriting. She is a dual citizen (US/Canada) and graduated from the Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto. She adapted a novel about a NYC journalist into a screenplay for director Bette Gordon and producer Anne Harrison. Before enrolling at Columbia, Ellen worked extensively as an actor in New York and Toronto. She has played leading roles at major theaters across Canada, as well as appearing off-Broadway and on Broadway.
