Jean-Pierre Masse

Jean-Pierre Masse has directed some 15 films, the majority of them engaged documentaries including the very first documentary on the FLQ {Front de libération du Québec}, two works devoted to Haiti, and the important documentaries "La nuit de la poésie de 1970", "La nuit de la poésie de 1980" and "La nuit de la poésie de 1991" co-directed with Jean-Claude Labrecque. He also taught cinema at UQÀM from 1976 to 2008, training a large number of Quebec filmmakers in the process. Jean-Pierre Masse was one of the founders and judges of the "courses destination monde" for many years. Over the course of his career, he has also worked as an editor, assistant director and performer on a large number of artistic and educational productions.
