Irish/Trinidadian, actor, director and award winning writer, raised in Newcastle Upon Tyne. As a child Maria became the first World Champion Irish dancer of colour. She left Newcastle and her profession as an SRN nurse and midwife to study drama at The Poor School in London. As a writer, Maria won "National Westminster Playwrights Awards" for her first two plays "Little Secrets" and "Cat Food" Her recent autobiographical theatrical play "The Guinness Girl" is in the process of being made into a feature film. Maria studied film direction at The London Film Academy and graduated in 2023. In 2024 she wrote and directed "Manannan Mac Lir" and "Falling Upwards" both with release dates pending.
