Richard Mauro

Richard Mauro has been a working member of the film production community for twenty years. He learned the business from the bottom up (moving from Production Assistant to Electric to Gaffer to Lighting Director to DP/Director) while owning Solar Plexus, Inc., a lighting and grip rental house. Whereas many DPs move up to their position from the Assistant Camera slot, Mauro has been involved with some of the more creative aspects of filmmaking--designing lighting schemes and implementing them to get the desired effect on screen. He knows how to get the wanted "look." He brings to each production not only his expertise in lighting, but also the benefit of owning Red One (4K HD), Panasonic HVX 200 HD camera equipment, lighting and grip trucks/equipment. He has access to Varicam equipment and a brand new 48' x 48' studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The studio specializes in green screen effects. He has directed an independent feature-length motion picture, "All I Know Is," and has the ability to get top performances from both trained actors and non-actors. More recently he directed and DPed a series of training videos for Barnes & Noble. His company, Solar Plexus, has provided exceptionally qualified and friendly crews for hundreds of productions in the New York/New Jersey area.
