Jeremiah McLerran, known as "Jeremy" to his family and friends was born in Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Virginia and grew up in Charlottesville, VA for most of his young life. Between his freshman and sophomore years of high school his father fell from a 95' cliff while free climbing and Jeremy was credited with saving his life by performing first aid while his brother and best friend ran for emergency help. William Shatner's television show "Rescue 911" did a re-enactment of the event in which Jeremy played himself. During a newspaper interview after the filming the interviewer suggested Jeremy try out for a Hollywood film being done locally called "Toy Soldiers." Obtaining a part as background or "extra" Jeremy watched closely, learning the business and doing his best to stay where he could be seen by the directors. Even as an extra he focused on being as authentic and genuine as possible. Noticing him about halfway through filming, the casting team upgraded his role to "featured extra" and gave him the name of "Ted" which had substantial screen time throughout the film. While he only speaks a few words, it was enough to be invited to the Hollywood premiere in Los Angeles. While he only appeared in a few movies and television shows, including "Matlock" "Sommersby" and a few small films used in local museums, his career continued behind the camera, directing, filming, and editing hundreds of corporate style videos for a variety of organizations. As of 2018 Jeremy lives in Utah with his wife and five children, directing the efforts of Silicon Valley based security and smart home manufacturer Qolsys during the day, and filming YouTube videos of his jeep wrangler and their family adventures on the weekends.
