Myra Yolanda Hasty McKenzie Merriweather was born in Waukegan, IL, as Myra Yolanda Hasty McKenzie. Born to Jamaican parents and raised in Atlanta, GA, her parents made sure she experienced the roots of her culture and thrills of the entertainment industry while attending North Atlanta School of Performing Arts and International Studies. A quadruple threat, she is an actress, model, producer, and singer. She became an actress based on a friendly bet. She decided to study and become a part of Georgia State University's film and television program while studying with Nick Conti's ProActors Studio in Buckhead, Atlanta. Nick gave Myra the segue into acting & the voiceover industry. She has also studied with Bobbie Chance Studios (LA), Dwayne Boyd's Premier Actors Studio (ATL), JoAnne Baron/DW Brown Studio (LA), Margie Haber Studios (LA), actor Michael Cole (ATL), and actress Terri J. Vaughn (ATL). Her beautiful voice earned her voiceover work which ranged from independent projects to the Atlanta Falcons. She got her first break as an actress in over 80 Walmart industrial spots. She was also the production assistant to renowned actor, Ray McKinnon, in his Oscar-winning independent film, "The Accountant". As a former Georgia State University student, her talent continued to blossom, catching the eye of a local talent scout who approached her to become part of the R&B quartet, Cazhe'. Cazhe' toured the Southeast and opened for author Nikki Giovanni's book signing, and shared the same stage with DJ Taz, Goodie Mob, Montell Jordan, Outkast, The Manhattans, The O'Jays, as well as, performed during the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. After Cazhe decided to call it a finale, Myra had to find a way to continue living in her passion so she was the assistant director, producer, and host of her own in-studio local travel television show, Vivid Impressions. She assisted with casting an independent film and photo vignette for Hands Off That Girl. Her performances include reality show, WE Tv's House of Curves; independent films Jus Friends, Casual Friday and Unkillable; Kierra KiKi Sheard and Naomi Cross music videos; Secrets of a Woman & Biblical Principles stage plays. Myra also engaged in modeling with Spanx, as well as, local Atlanta runway shows and magazines, including, Macy's bridal shows. She is affiliated with the following organizations: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, SAG-AFTRA, Atlanta Association of Black Journalists, BMI, IMAGE Films, Women in Film & Television Association of Georgia, and Writers Guild of America (East). Myra Merriweather is a dreamer, complimented by her formal education, makes her the picture of Beauty and Brains. Her academic and professional background include: a Bachelor of Mass Communications, Masters in Business Administration, experience as an executive/personal assistant, event manager, project coordinator, and strategic planner. She also assists others with company development while propelling her own business and entertainment career. A dream becomes a vision...she has a vibrant yet laid back personality with the continuing dream of striving, mastering, and perfecting the craft of acting, modeling, producing & voiceover work as her vision!
