Evgeni Mihaylov is a Bulgarian director and politician from the Union of Democratic Forces . He was born in Sofia on December 2, 1954. He studied film directing in the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in 1975, then graduated in film directing at Cinema Institute, Moscow, Russia in 1980. He worked at various jobs as a director and producer. He was Chairperson of the democratic movement " Eco-Glasnost ". He was then Deputy Chairman of the National Coordination Council of Union of Democratic Forces. Mihaylov became best known for shooting his so-called "tank cartridge". On this cartridge was overhearing how the President Petar Mladenov cried "It is time tanks to come!" and as a result Petar Mladenov resigned. In 1992 - 1993 Evgeni Mihaylov was an artistic manager of Bulgarian Television's Chanel 2. In 1994 he was Member of the Parliament in the 37th National Assembly from the Union of Democratic Forces. He was Member of the Commission of Culture in 1995 and Deputy Chairman of the Radio, Television and Bulgarian Telegraph Agency. In the period 1997 - 2005 he was director of the "Boyana Film Studios. Together with the Board of directors resigned in October 2006 as a sign of disagreement with the privatization of the "Boyana Film Studios". He won the Best Director Award at the National Film Festival "Golden Rose" in Varna in 1994 . He is an author of documentaries and feature films. Documentary films are "Eternal engine" / 1986 /; "Race" / 1987 /; "With open maps" / 1988 /. His future films are "Home for gentle souls" / 1981 /; "Death Can Wait" / 1985 /; "Canaries Season" / 1993 /. He speaks Russian and English. He has a daughter and a son.
