Pery is a multi-faceted artist, for besides being a great singer he's also a flutist, a composer and an actor, having participated in many productions such as: "It's All True", when he was still a child, written and directed by none other than Orson Welles, and "Vanished", with Richard Widmark and E.G. Marshall, among others. Music is in his blood, as he was born of Herivelto Martins, one of Brazil's greatest composers and actor, and Dalva de Oliveira, actress and one of the most important Brazilian singer ever; and Perry has been acclaimed one of the best interpreters of Brazilian music. The first singer to record, in 1962, the most famous song of Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, the hit Girl from Ipanema. From 29 albums to his credit, 12 LPs and 20 CDs are dedicated solely to Bossa Nova; and one of them, Encontro (1966), was elected one out of the best 100 albums released by Odeon, and its part of the commemorative package being launched to celebrate a century of the label in Brazil (2002). In May, 2003, at the Lincoln Theater (Miami-Florida) the Miami Beach's Mayor, David Dermer, personally handed Pery Ribeiro the key of the City.
