Anders Ribbsjö, born 1944, was a Swedish cinematographer, filmmaker, producer and writer. In 1967, he was admitted to Sveriges Radio's two-year training and, after it was completed, worked his entire life at Sveriges Television, SVT. The list of films on which he left his unmistakable imprint is very long. He had the whole world as his field of work and made a total of around thirty films from North and South America, Africa, Asia and Sweden. As the first Western filmmaker, he and his colleagues depicted North Korea in 1970, as well as Fidel Castro's own story about the revolution in Cuba. Ribbsjö's films were shown all over the world. The awards and honors poured in - Prix Futura, Expressen's Grand TV Award, the European Commission's ECHO Award, the Council of Europe's Documentary Film Award, the Banff Special Jury Award, the Club 100 Award, the Icarus Award and so on. Anders Ribbsjö passed away in the late summer of 1998.
