Composer/pianist Earl Rose is an Emmy Award winner and has received 14 Emmy nominations as well as three ASCAP Awards for being among the top five most performed composers in television. Classically trained, Earl graduated from the Mannes College Of Music in New York, majoring in piano and studying with Edith Oppens and Frances Dillon. He also studied abroad at the Vienna Academie Of Music and conducting at the Juilliard School under Emanuel Balaban. In addition to his scores, Earl's songs have crossed over into major pop recording hits. These include the multi-platinum selling recordings Every Beat of My Heart, co-written and recorded by Brian McKnight and Love Is A Gift, recorded by Olivia Newton-John and co-written with her and Victoria Shaw. Among Earl's recent credits are his appearance performing an original composition in New Year's Eve, directed by Garry Marshall, and having his music featured in such television shows as Pan Am, Bored To Death and this season's Carson on TCM. Rose, who conducts and orchestrates his own scores, has been a frequent collaborator with Emmy winning director/writer/producer Peter Jones having most recently composed the theme and series music for Carson on TCM and scored his feature documentaries Johnny Carson:King Of Late Night for the American Masters PBS Series and the Peabody Award winning Inventing L.A.:The Chandlers and Their Times. Their other collaborations include the Emmy winning Stardust: The Bette Davis Story for Turner Classic Movies, and Ballyhoo:The Hollywood Sideshow for AMC Television. Other feature film credits include Earl's original solo piano music being heard in the Warner Bros. feature film, White Oleander and his acclaimed jazz flavored score for the MGM/UA release, Mad Dog Time, directed by Larry Bishop. He wrote the song arrangements for director Nicholas Hytner's The Object Of My Affection (20th Century Fox), original music for the film Gunshy, starring Diane Lane, and selected music for the film, Joe & Max, directed by Steve James. His past television projects include the score for the HBO Special Hard Times for an American Girl: The Great Depression as well as being guest pianist performing with Elvis Costello, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert on A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All. Earl has composed the score for over thirty hours of History Channel documentaries including The Presidents, Remember the Alamo, and his Emmy nominated score for Wake Island:Alamo Of The Pacific. Among his other television scores are the A&E documentaries, Biography: James Woods and In The Shadow Of Cold Mountain. His songs/music have been featured in such hit series as ER, The West Wing and Who Wants To Marry My Dad, Sex And The City, America's Next Top Model, The Bad Girls Club and Real World. As a songwriter and record producer some of Earl credits include the Emmy nominated song I Found Love, co-written and recorded by Peabo Bryson, and All For The Sake Of Love, co-written and recorded by country singer Victoria Shaw. Legendary singer Johnny Mathis has recorded two of Earl's songs, Every Beat Of My Heart and Right From The Heart. Other recording studio collaborations include co-writing and/or arranging for such contemporary hit recording artists as Audra McDonald, Madeleine Peyroux ,the late Phoebe Snow, Kenny Lattimore, Montell Jordan, Gordon Chambers and opera singer Daniel Rodriquez. As a recording artist, Earl's latest releases are the soundtracks of his scores for Johnny Carson: King Of Late Night and Inventing L.A.:The Chandlers And Their Times (Amadeus Music Company). Other releases are Stardust: The Bette Davis Story soundtrack, Guys And Dolls, Color, Rhythm and Magic: Favorite Songs from Disney Classics (Varèse Sarabande), Earl Rose Plays Burt Bacharach (Pianodisc), Take My Breath Away (Sony), and an album of solo piano performances of Great Movie Themes (Piano Disc). Earl, as pianist and conductor, appears in concert throughout the world. These appearances include performing with his jazz trio and Earl Rose and Friends (piano, bass, drums, and cello).
