An Ivy League graduate with a degree in Diplomatic History, Julia was born in Zambia, spent her early childhood in Africa, and grew up in Paris before finishing high school in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. Her mother, a stage actress herself in Paris in her youth, was originally from Turkey. Her father, a career diplomat with the United Nations, is from Norway and along with most of Julia's immediate family, lives in Europe.
