Paul Rubell was born on September 6th, 1952. He grew up in Los Angeles, graduating with an English degree from UCLA. His film career began when he became apprentice to the late Alan Balsam on a low budget movie, after which he became the assistant editor to Lou Lombardo, for whom he edited and reedited scenes. For ten years he worked on low budget pictures and television series until 1996 when John Frankenheimer asked him to cut 'The Island of Dr Moreau'. Since then he has worked on the three Transformers' films, and been Oscar nominated for 'The Insider' and 'Collateral' as well as receiving the Eddie ward from the American Cinema Editors for his work on the TV drama 'Andersonville'.
