Frank Schaeffer is the son of Francis and Edith Schaeffer, pioneers in the American evangelical movement. He was brought up in his parents L'Abri community, in Switzerland. Together with his dad, Frank was a key architect of the so-called Christian Right in the US, mobilizing millions of born-again Christians to support conservative causes and oppose liberal causes, such as abortion and homosexuality. Frank since renounced his part in the creation of the Religious Right, and converted to Orthodox Christianity. His book "Crazy for God" is a memoir of his childhood and a renunciation of his earlier religious and political activities.
