Sheila Sawhny

Sheila Sawhny, writer, director and actress, hails from Bombay, India. She moved to Queens, NY with her family as a teenager. She is the recipient of fellowships from the Outfest Screenwriting Lab, the DreamAgo Plume et Pellicle Screenwriting Lab in Switzerland and her first screenplay was a winner in the Slamdance Feature Writing Competition. A founding member of Synchronicity Theatre Group NY, she has acted, written, directed and produced in NY, LA and Europe. She wrote and starred in theatrical productions of All Right Man and The Best Best Western. She is the writer and director of No Tell Motel which premiered at Studio Stage and Baby Steps produced at VS Theatre. Favorite acting roles include Emily in the European tour of Our Town, Georgie in the acclaimed LA theatrical production of A Clockwork Orange. As the Filmmaker Liaison for the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, Sheila handled full cycle talent services for all filmmakers. She is the Programming Manager for Film Independent's Global Media Makers, an innovative mentoring initiative for international filmmakers.
