Kurt grew up in Dallas, Texas where he was an active participant in productions with Junior Players Guild and at Greenhill School. At McKinney High School he was cast in every school play for which he auditioned and he sang in the choir. Kurt had long enjoyed writing but it wasn't until he began college at Southern Methodist University that he became serious about it. While in Dallas, Kurt worked as a Production Assistant on a variety of television shows and films shot in North Texas. He loved the work and started making connections who encouraged a move to Los Angeles. Once in Los Angeles, Kurt quickly found his way to the writer's room. He worked first as a writer's assistant but eventually as a writer, individually but also with his writing partner, Charleen Easton. After leaving his television-writing career in Los Angeles, Kurt moved to Peru with his partner, Bill Crawford. There he became an active member of the Ole Olsen Memorial Theatre as an actor, writer, and director. Most notably, he wrote and directed many Cole Porter revues for the annual Cole Porter Festival, as well as a recent adaptation of A Christmas Carol. Kurt died on June 8, 2019 of cancer. Seven years prior, his death was preceded by that of his aforementioned partner.
