From 1979 to 1989, August owned Baeder-Sehven Inc., a hair and makeup agency to photographers and advertising firms. From 1986 to 1992, he owned and operated Idols International, a NYC modeling agency and school that provided models, makeup & hair artistry and set design for many affluent clients. During his last 10 years, August worked as a freelance designer in Los Angeles and for New Leaf and Trochtas in Oklahoma City.
