Irina Seleznyova was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. Graduated from the Academy of Theatre, Music and Cinema in St Petersburgh. Few years after graduation she became one of the leading actresses at the renowned Maly Drama Theatre led by Lev Dodin. where she played Masha in Three Sisters, Alexandra in Brothers, and Sister and Loran in Stars of the Morning Sky. In 1990 she immigrated to Israel and became the first Russian-speaking actress to break into the Israeli theatre scene performing in Hebrew. She worked in one of the most prominent theatres in Israel, The Cameri Theatre and played many roles. Most notable credits include Nina in The Seagull, Titania in The Summer's night dream, Lady Anna in Richard III, Alma Maller in Alma. Together with having an extensive career in theatre, Irina has played multiple star roles in Russian, Belarussian and Israeli Films and TV productions. Notable credits include lead roles of Liza Pozdnyshev in The Kreutzer Sonata (dir. M. Sheitzer), Luchiana Farrini in Moscow Vacation (dir. A.Surikova), Larisa in Games of Imagination (dir. M, Ptashuk), Dvora Ben Iehuda in The Man, Who Loves Hebrew (dir. Eli Cohen), Tanya in Buskila Twins, Journalist in The Work of His Life and Sonia in Zinzana. She also was a host of Israeli version of TV show Who's Line it is anyway. In 2000 she married a British citizen and moved to the UK, whilst aslo continuing to work in TV series in Russi. In theatre, she most recently played the role of Dimentzia Petrovna (Mother Russia) in To See Salisbury at RADA Festival 2019 in London.
