Norman Palmer was born in England and served in the Royal Navy from 1939 to 1945. During his time in the service, he was twice decorated for bravery. Like most people in the service, Palmer didn't want to make a career out of it so he left the service and when to school to become a dental technician. Eventually Palmer found himself in Florida where he owned a dental laboratory. That's when the acting bug bit him and he started doing local theatre productions at night. He felt like he needed to give it a try as an actor so Palmer moved to California in the early 1960s leaving his practice behind. His older appearance enabled him to get a few roles as an actor but the work was not steady enough to support his family. This lead him into appearing in more background roles in the late 1960s where he was able to use his eloquent appearance to start appearing in socialite scenes and occasionally in talking roles as lawyers or reporters. Norman Palmer worked until his death of cancer in 1986 leaving behind countless socialite appearances in television and movies and a story of a man who was able to achieve his dream.
