John Parsonson

John's Los Angeles directorial debut netted two award wins and nine nominations (The Ovation Awards, The LA Weekly Awards and The NAACP Theatre Awards). The project was Camelot Artists' production of "The Island," a play devised by Athol Fugard, John Kani and Winston Ntshona. He started his career as a contract player with a provincial theatre company in South Africa. Cast as the lead in "Call Me Kelly," he became one of South Africa's first popular stars when the show's ratings came in just ahead of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
