Barbara Perlman, (aka Barbara Raymond, Barbara Stewart) came to Hollywood from Miami, FL in her late teens. She moved into the Hollywood Studio Club (YWCA) which also housed Joanne Worley and Nancy Kwan. She said that she was working within 2 weeks of living there. She was very determined and decided that she would do acting, extra work and stunts. She had studied acting with Ruth Foreman's Dramatic Academy in Miami, and also studied dancing and did some radio drama at an early age (Pied Piper Playhouse (radio, live TV and stage productions)). Later in California she studied with Ben Bard, Rick Walter's Theater Craft Workshop and Princess Theater Workshop. One of her first movie jobs was stunt doubling Paula Prentiss in "Man's Favorite Sport", doing some underwater work. Some of her pals at the Raincheck Room on Melrose, were Steve McQueen, Jason Robards and Robert Vaughn. Darts was her game of choice. She later worked on "Rio Bravo" and made friends with Howard Hawks and John Wayne. Wayne loved to play chess and so did Barbara - she beat him once and never again. Wayne invited her to dinner at his home and she met his family, and this was a very special memory for her. On a calmer note, in "Camelot" she was a lady in waiting to Vanessa Redgrave's Guenevere, wearing long hair wigs and heavy leather dresses. She played jury members several times, and lots of nursing roles. She did a long stint on "Little House on The Prairie", and received an acting credit on "All The Presidents Men". Other film and TV titles that Barbara worked on, as I recall them: Blues Brothers, Battlestar Galactica, Soylent Green, Chips, Ozzie and Harriet, Baretta, Harry O, Foster and Laurie, This is the Life, Kill Joy, Hardcastle and McCormick, Julia, Kaz, Fatal Vision, St. Elsewhere (Afterlife/Mrs. Kurtz), Drum, Two Minute Warning, Red Line 7000, and Moving Violations.
