Malina Petrova was born in 1950 in Burgas. In 1973 she e graduated mathematics at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". In 1978 Malina Petrova graduated from The National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia in the class of Professor Christo Christov (assistant Georgi Djulgerov). From 1979 till 1991 she worked at the Boyana Film Studios, Sofia, Bulgaria. She was the assistant director of Rangel Vulchanov in "Patent Leather Shoes of the Unknown Soldier." She debuted with the film "Journey" (1980) together with Iskra Yosifova, her fellow student. Her second feature is the "Son of Mary" (1983). In 1984 she turned to documentary filmmaking. She is an author of 13 documentary films, each of which is characterized by acute analytical, aware citizenship and rejection of falsehood. Since 1990 she is a freelance director.
