Emanoil Petrut was a graduate from the Theatre and Film Art Institute of Bucharest, Romania, and became a film leading man in the fifties while still a student. Even if he starred in so many Romanian and European films, he loved being on stage. His long lasting career with the National Theatre of Bucharest enabled Mimi Petrut to play various roles in the company of famed actors, and great stage directors. And it was in only one instance when Mimi Petrut was in the same movie with his nephew, actor-director Tudor Petrut, "Femeia din Ursa Mare", shot in 1981. From that family experience remains only one black and white picture... Emanoil Petrut passed away in 1983, a short time after his beloved wife, broadcaster Catinca Ralea Petrut. They left behind a legacy of a family of intellectuals that will influence their time, be it communist or otherwise.
