Veronika Polonskaya is a Soviet theater and film actress. Veronika was born in Moscow in a family of Malyy Theater actors - the star of Russian pre-revolutionary cinema Vitold Polonsky and actress Olga Gladkova. Among her family and friends her name was Nora. She first starred in silent films with her father at the age of 7 and felt the magic of the camera. Veronika also had other children's roles. In 1918, Vitold Polonsky signed a contract with Hollywood and had to leave, most likely irrevocably, with his wife and daughter to the United States. The sudden death of Polonsky prevented this move from happening. At the age of sixteen in 1924, Veronika entered the school of the Moscow Art Theater and remained there after graduating from school. She studied in the studio with Nikolay Batalov, Yuri Zavadsky , and Konstantin Stanislavski gave her acting lessons. She made her film debut in the film Steklyannyy glaz (1929) directed by Lilya Brik and Vitaliy Zhemchuzhniy.
