Kurt Taylor was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended Evans E. Worthing Junior and Senior High school--played football, baseball and ran track. Graduated from high school in the mid-sixties. Attended Prairie View A&M College -- played football and baseball. In 1969, Kurt joined the Kansas City Chiefs pro-football team. Kurt Taylor and Otis Taylor - the Super Star all-pro wide receiver, who also played for Kansas City Chiefs Pro-Football team eleven seasons are first cousins. Kurt has an ex-wife, Sharon and four grown kids, Kimberly, Keisha Renee, Keith, and Kenya. Bill Cosby was responsible for Kurt's first professional writing job in Hollywood on "The New Bill Cosby Comedy Variety Show" on CBS, as a staff writer in 1972. Kurt was hired to write Bill Cosby's opening comedy monologues. Then Kurt met Norman Lear, (TV Producer), who was impressed with Kurt's creative talents and became Kurt's mentor. Lear taught him how to write situation comedy. Kurt's first situation comedy episode was with "Good Times" TV comedy series, entitled Black Jesus" in 1974. Norman Lear also hired Kurt as a staff writer on some of his other shows, such as "The Jeffersons" and "Sanford". Kurt also worked with his long time comedian/actor friend Eddie Griffin for eight years as a writer - (Malcolm & Eddie) TV comedy Show. As Kurt always points out - minus the profanity.
