Lene Tiemroth is a renowned Danish actress, having worked for decades in film as well as theatre. The daughter of actors Edvin Tiemroth and Clara Østø, she graduated from Det Kongelige Teaters Elevskole in Copenhagen in 1966 and had a stage breakthrough with her performance in "Antigone". Tiemroth's career has suffered several long pauses, willingly and unwillingly, including through a stay in USA around 1970. Her active periods have, however, garnered much success, and her return to the screen in Italian for Beginners (2000) won her a prestigious Bodil Award for her strong portrait of an alcoholized woman.
