Titus Tiel Groenestege started out as a comedian right after finishing theater-school in Utrecht/Netherlands in 1981. Together with Bavo Galama he became famous in Holland as 'Frisse Jongens' (Fresh Boys), a theater-duo that combined slapstick, sketches, philosophy, absurdism, and thus invented a new way of storytelling. Their last show: 'Ons Lowietje heeft een engel gezien' (Our Louis saw an angel) was recorded by NPS (Dutch Television) in 1988. In 1989 'Frisse Jongens' split up, after having achieved what they wanted, and Tiel Groenestege focused on 'serious' acting in the theater. In 1992 he started another duo with Han Römer. Together they wrote and performed 5 theater-shows. 'Ockhams Razor', was adapted for television in 1995. In 1998 Tiel Groenestege started working with Ria Marks. They made three short wordless theater-plays and in 2005 turned them into a movie called 'Valse Wals' (False Waltz) that won the Prix Italia and received an Emmy-nomination. Since 1985 Titus Tiel Groenestege acted in several TV-series and films but is now mainly known as a theater director and writer.
