Eric van Tijn was born on November 2, 1956 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands as Eric Job van Tijn. Growing up in the recording studio of his parents he knew at a very young age what he wanted to be. At high school he started working as an engineer in their studio Artisound, during his study at the Conservatorium he wrote and produced his first Golden Record. Eric has become a very well known Dutch TV personality, as he was one of the judges for the TV smash hits Idols & XFactor for over 10 years. Together with longtime partner Jochem Fluitsma he wrote & produced numerous golden and multi-platinum selling albums, well over 100 top 40 hits in Holland alone, amongst them over 20 number 1 hits! Top 10 hits all over the world (England, Germany, Austria, Italy, USA). They have written music for almost every artist in Holland, and for countless feature films, commercials, theatre and TV shows, have sold millions of singles, albums & downloads. Eric is (or has been) musical director for the most successful TV and theatre shows in Holland, like The Voice, Idols, X-Factor, The Passion, The Christmas Show, The Space Xperience, De Televizier Ring, Holland Zingt Hazes and Musicals in Concert, to name just a few..... As a composer Eric wrote the music for countless Dutch TV shows, for instance De Verraders, Radar, Opsporing Verzocht, Het Geheim van de Meester. Still, after 40 years Fluitsma & van Tijn written songs continue to be in the charts. Like hits for Wulf, and Tungevaag. Situated in Amsterdam, Soundwise, their company combines 15 state of the art studios & writing rooms. In 2020 and 2021 Eric van Tijn was music director and composer for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 & 2021 in Rotterdam. In 1998 Eric received the prestigious Golden Harp for his contribution to Dutch Music. In 2018 he was honored with the BUMA Lifetime Achievement Award.
