Stephen Traxler

Stephen Traxler was born in 1945. He graduated from Canoga Park High School in Canoga Park, California in 1963. Traxler worked as a bit player and production assistant around Hollywood prior to serving as an infantryman in Vietnam. In the mid 70s Stephen was operating a radio station near Mammoth Mountain when he broke his leg and was forced to live in the home of a lady friend who resided in Venice, California. Traxler was inspired by the city's canals to write the script for the creature feature horror opus "Spawn of the Slithis." "Spawn of the Slithis" was shot in 12 days on a budget of 100,000 dollars. The film reportedly grossed $11 million at the box office during its domestic theatrical release (Stephen alas never received any money from the movie's profits) and has since gone on to amass a small, yet fervent cult following amongst aficionados of fun'n'funky low-budget 70's drive-in fright fare. Traxler has continued to work in the motion picture business: He wrote, directed, and produced the made-for-TV movie "Sam Churchill: Search for a Homeless Man" in 1999. Moreover, Stephen has not only served as a producer or associate producer on such films as "Dracula's Widow," "Windtalkers," "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde," and "Out of Time," but has also handled production supervisor duties on a handful of movies that include "Lookin' to Get Out," "Invasion U.S.A.," "Gleaming the Cube," "Waterworld," "McHale's Navy," and "Meet the Deedles."
