Vili Tzankov was a Bulgarian Theater and Film director, and a writer. He had made about 130 theater performances, 15 films; the most important among them are Between the Rails (1964), The Demon of the Empire (TV serial, 1971), The Weddings of King Yoan Asen (1975). His father Hrisan Tzankov was managing director of the National Theater. His mother was a prominent teacher. Vili Tzankov studied Military School, than - Economics, and after that graduated from the Sofia Academy of Dramatic Art in 1952 after studying theater direction. He has worked as director in many country's theaters. Special period of his life was that since 1956 until 1956, when in town of Burgas he together with Leon Daniel, Yuliya Ognyanova and Metodi Andonov organizes the experimental, innovatory theater. It was theater of "deeply subsistence". The young directors fight against so-called "acting" on the stage. He was elected to the National Assembly of Bulgaria in 1990 - 1991 as a representative of Union of Democratic Forces.
