Luis Vigoreaux

A major Puerto Rican actor and television producer, Luis Vigoreaux helped revolutionized Puerto Rican television. A product of the first generation of Puerto Rican actors to appear on television, Vigoreaux became a staple to island audiences every week. In 1958, he met future wife, actress Lydia Echevarria and soon they were married. After years of marriage, their marriage was headed to the rocks. On his way to work in January 1983, Vigoreaux's car disappeared and he was reported missing. He was found murdered in the trunk of his car. After investigations, police concluded that his wife, Lydia, hired two hitmen to kill her husband. She was found guilty of murder and faced life in prison. In 2000, Governor Pedro Rosselló released Echevarria amidst a lot of protests. She claims her innocence to this date.
