Richard Vuu was cast as the 3-year-old infant Pu Yi, the future emperor of China in Bernardo Bertolucci's acclaimed film The Last Emperor (1987). The playful kid was treated as young king but he was also a child who was trying his best to enjoy childhood, as demonstrated in the iconic scene where he frees and chases a grasshopper during an important event where his caretaker tries to stop him from running. The movie was a huge hit and Vuu's face was immortalized on the film's poster. However, he has never returned to acting.
