A native of Hollister, California, Kirk has worked continuously for over two decades in the entertainment industry. After earning his stripes as a stand-up comic in San Francisco, Kirk seized a chance to work with Luis Valdez's world renowned theatre company, El Teatro Campesino, and would go on to become an actor and resident playwright with the company. Shortly after moving to Southern California in search of further opportunities, Kirk was invited to join Tim Robbins' acclaimed Los Angeles theatre company, The Actors' Gang. There, he developed new talents, working as dramaturge, designer, and producer, and further deepened his writing and performance skills, culminating in his breakout one-man show, 3 Stories Tall, a favorite at the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival. Since then, Kirk has appeared in dozens of feature films, from hits like Forrest Gump, to indie standouts like Lords of Dogtown, to Michael Bay's single box office flop The Island. Kirk has extensive TV credits as well and recently signed on to star in the TV pilot Zombieland for Amazon. As a screenwriter, Kirk sold his first property, First, Last and Security, with Jack Black, to Disney. Kirk quickly followed up with another Disney project, Park It Here. Then in 2009 he teamed up with Greg Coolidge and the two sold a live action series called The Exchange to Cartoon Network and most recently a feature film to Lionsgate titled Take My Wife starring The Rock and Tyler Perry.
