Steven Shayler was born Dec/25/1971, at 9:32pm. In the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was given up for adoption at birth to Peter and Claire Shayler of Calgary. He has an older adopted sister, Donna. In 1973 the Shayler family moved to St. Albert, a suburb of Edmonton, Alberta. Steven attended Robert Rundell elementary, then Wildrose elementary. In the early 1980's the Shayler family moved to Lloydminster, a city on the Alberta/Saskatchewan border. In the mid 80's the family moved back to St. Albert. Steven has always enjoyed sports: Roller hockey, golf, tennis, wrestling, baseball, rugby, football and snorkeling. In grade 10 Steven enrolled in the Paul Kane drama program. He graduated from Bellerose Composite High School in the spring of 1989. In the spring of 1990 Steven set out on his own, moving to the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. Within months of moving here Steven started a professional stand-up comedy career out of Yuc Yuc's Comedy Club in the plaza of nations in Vancouver. During an open Mic night early in his career Steven was discovered by Elizabeth Hodgson of Richards Modeling and Talent of Vancouver. Steven attended the Gastown Actors Studio, Linda Darlow actors workshops and a Lee Strausberg actors workshop in Los Angeles. In 1993 Steven was cast in the role of Predro Algorta in the feature film Alive. Pedro Algorta was a fellow student that attended the school that chartered the plane to fly the sports team to Chile. Pedro was on his way to see a girl he liked and normally took the train. In 1995 Steven moved to Redondo Beach, California to purse stand-up and acing careers in Los Angeles. He performed at the LAugh Factory, the Comedy Store, and the Melrose Improve. Steven has performed more than 982 live stand-up shows as an open, middle, and m.c. In 2000 Steven obtained his class one license and joined the local 362 film board Teamsters, and worked on the production Snow Day when it filmed in Edmonton, Alberta. Since joining the transportation department of the entertainment industry Steven has worked on more then 68 film, television and commercials productions in Alberta and British Columbia. Steven has a driver credit for the 2001 film Texas Rangers although his name is spelled wrong, Steven Shatler. In 2002 Steven was cast in the part of first bad cowboy in the true life story, The Johnson County Wars. In 2005 he is credited for transport on the Academy award winning film Broke Back Mountain, filmed in southern Alberta. In 2007 he received another transport credit for the film Resurrecting the Champ. Steven is 5'10", and 164lbs, brown hair, blue eyes. His childhood heroes were Mark Messier, Chuck Yeager and Carol Shelby. His favorite car is the 1966 Shelby 350 G.T. R code, 289, fast back, 4spd. His favorite movies are: The road to Predition, Crazy Marry Dirty Larry and There will be blood. Comedians that make Steven laugh; Al Franken, Bill Marh, Dennis Miller,. The music he enjoys; Van Halen, the old Tragically Hip, R.E.O Speedwagon and the Headstones. Favorite animal; Amazon river otter. Steven was a Beaver Scout, Cub Scout, Boy Scout and junior forest warden. He has more than 690 hours of winter survival camping experience in northern Alberta and Saskatchewan. Research for Alive; Donner Party, Normanwells crash, the last known cannibal tribe, New Guinea. Since the filming of Alive Steven has met and had relationships with both of his biological parents.
