Filmmaker and theater director Michael Sládek's feature-length films include Con Artist (New Yorker Films, The Orchard), BAM150 (Cinema Guild), and Devils Are Dreaming (Dances With Films Jury Award). A 2013 Acker Award recipient, he recently completed the narrative short All Against the Sea (Woodstock Film Festival) while developing new works through his Brooklyn-based company Plug Ugly Films. His animated music video We Live On Your Street won Slamdance Jury & Anarchy awards and was distributed by Spike & Mike's Festival of Animation. Sládek has made multiple shorts, music videos, branded content videos, and industrials for various clients including BAM, Maxim, Interview, Arista Records, etc. His most recent theater piece was Richard Dresser's Below the Belt at Westbeth Arts NYC. Currently serving as the New York Consultant for SAGindie, Sládek worked for Tribeca Film Festival, MTV News, The Clinton Foundation, author Jamaica Kincaid, ad agency Jacobs & Gerber, and as manager/marketing designer for the punk bands Stupid and The Sobs. A member of SAG-AFTRA, he acted professionally in theater and film after studying acting and directing at UCLA and Orange Coast College. He was a member of Orange Coast Repertory and trained with the experimental company Kadmus Theater Studio in LA and Vermont.
