Lee Summers won the 2018 AUDELCO Award for 'Best Director of a Musical' for On Kentucky Avenue, for which he was also nominated as 'Best Supporting Actor.' Other directing credits include the NYMF Festival's A Cappella the Musical and Harriet Tubman, for which Summers is slated to direct the 2020 world premiere. As either producer, director, writer, lyricist and/or composer, Summers' shows include: The Funkentine Rapture (NAMT alum and 2018 54 Below concert starring Tony Winners Lillias White and James Monroe Iglehart); Off-Broadway's From My Hometown (12 regional productions); Ella, First Lady of Song (4 regional productions); The Bayard Rustin Project (2018 Lincoln Center concert) and Pangaea: The Musical, (2018 Marymount College Production). Acting credits include his Broadway debut in the original Dreamgirls and reprising his role in and on the Dreamgirls 20th Anniversary Concert/ CD. Summers has appeared at Carnegie Hall and in numerous TV and film roles, which include "Blue Bloods," "Boardwalk Empire" and "Malcolm X."
