Canadian-born Errol Taggart originally came to the U.S. for his health around 1920. He gave his occupation as a "motion picture actor" in the 1930 census, although it appears he never was credited with any roles. Johnny Eck, who played the half-man in Tod Browning's Freaks (1932), verified in a 1980 interview that Taggart was assistant director for that film.
