Rick Gutierrez

Weaned on wildly inappropriate films as a child, Rick Gutierrez migrated towards stories that plumbed the darker side of life from an early age. Determining as a teenager that a film director was what he would be, Gutierrez has defied pigeonholing, ping-ponging between an adaptation of the French existential landmark "No Exit," an examination of a serial killer's life with "Affection," a relationship drama in "Somewhat Damaged," and the mockumentary "Method." With his latest effort, the thriller "Stay," Gutierrez re-teams with Darren Buser (screenwriter on "Method"). A fan of Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan's work, Gutierrez leapt at the opportunity to work on a project with a non-linear narrative. Past being prologue, Gutierrez is presently developing two feature-length projects: a drama inspired by the assassination attempt on Gabrielle Giffords and a horror that draws equal inspiration from "The Howling" and "Children of Men."
