Stan Nelson worked as an actor and for the Comedy Store, as first, stage manager, and then associate producer and stage director in London, Germany, Edinburgh and Manchester. As an actor, after starting in theatre with Hull Truck, he was fortunate enough to undertake a number of roles, none of them major, as he agreed with the producer at the Comedy Store, Kim Kinnie, to prioritize his work there, but still had fun working as an actor, and even had the character of Big Baby written specifically for him by Mickey Hutton. When his agent retired he then focused on comedy production, with Don Ward at the Comedy Store and also Joe Norris and Addison Cresswell at Open Mike Productions, until he left the comedy business to go back to the stage and subsequently into directing and teaching. He now lives by and swims in the sea, and can't complain.
