Eva Somogyi was the stage name of Eva Yvette Saar, who was a popular model and actress in Budapest, Hungary before World War Two. Her mother was Adrienne Hatschek who was a stage actress who performed under the name Adrien Hattay. In 1935, she first performed under the name Eva Saar at the Andrassy Street Theater. In 1936, Laszlo Bekeffy of the Profile Theater Group suggested she take the name Somogy. Under the stage name Eva Somogyi she appeared in several films in the 1930s. She became a member of the Profile Theater Group in 1938. Somogyi's career was interrupted by World War Two. After the war she appeared in a musical cabaret, as well as in another film. However, when the Communists took power in Hungary, she fled to Vienna and eventually emigrated to the United States where she married and was known by her married name Eva Teicholz. She died in New York City on September 22, 2000.
