Podder directed and produced more than twenty stage plays in Calcutta that ranged from local playwrights and adaptations of the works from internationally famous playwrights like Shakespeare, Brecht, Pirandello, Satre, Chekhov, Beckett. He was one of the most promising and talked about playwrights and directors. Now, though, he is a rookie filmmaker in Los Angeles, where he wrote, directed and produced his first feature film, Storm in the Afternoon (1998), in 1998 which enjoyed US and International theatrical release and was screened at the India International Film Festival, 2000, Indisk Film Festival, Norway, 2000 and the Calcutta International Film Festival, 1999. His new film is The Chosen Few (2002) - the story of a religious fanatic - a theme dear to his heart. He personally witnessed the atrocity of communal riots, mass massacre of his close relatives and sexual perversion of so called spiritual leaders - all in the name of God. The film is complete.
