Hassan Reda (Hassan Reda Sr.) was an Egyptian director, writer and film editor. He is the grandfather of the film director Hassan Reda (Hassan Moustafa Hassan Reda). He was born in 1921, and flew to Paris in 1937 after finishing high school to study modern art and film making. In 1944 he joined the editing department in Studio Misr, and was an apprentice of directors Salah Abu Seif and Kamal Elsheikh. He worked as an assistant editor at the beginning of his professional career, and then started directing films. He is most known for directing "Al Akl Zeina" (The Mind is an Ornament), "Afrit Samara" (Samara's Ghost), "Kholkhal Habiby" (My Love's Anklet) and "Horub" (Escape). He died in 1981 at the age of 60.
