Gary Wheeler began acting at Andover High School in Linthicum, MD under the direction of Drama Teacher William Blewett. During his high school years, he appeared in several productions including a competition performance as Captain Keller in a scene from The Miracle Worker, which won the Maryland State Drama Festival Award that year. He also performed in some Reader's Theatre work under the direction of Wayne Shipley (then an English teacher) more recently director of One-Eyed Horse, Day of the Gun and Bill Tilghman and the Outlaws. Gary credits his acting success to their guidance and continued support throughout the years. Gary later earned his A.A. from Anne Arundel Community College, B.A from UMBC and M.A. from Towson University. In addition to being a longtime member of the SAG/AFTRA, Gary also freelances as a photographer and videographer. He also has worked as an adjunct professor at UMUC, AACC, Towson University, CCBC and Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University). Gary competed as one of nine finalists in the Toastmasters International World Championship of Public Speaking held in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1978. He's taught Speech at Anne Arundel Community College for almost 20 years. In addition to his work both in front of and behind the camera, Gary has worked as a private acting coach and taught a series of acting courses with friend and Actors Company Theatre co-founder John Strawbridge. Gary's The Monologue Book: Dialogues for One is available on Amazon in print and eBook form. Odds and ends in the film business have included casting, script doctor, second unit direction, acting coach, and set photography.
