At 18 Johann Wolf moved from the new age comedy of Ojai California to the old school drama that is Los Angeles. Living next door to loud and wacky neighbors in Silverlake while attending studies at the Los Angeles Theatre Academy, Wolf discovered his preference for storytelling through writing and directing, and that the weird neighbors were the yet unknown Coen Brothers, Frances McDormand & Sam Raimi. A definitive name drop. After school he traveled the world for a gap year then settled in Europe for more schooling, first in Vienna and then in Paris accidentally beginning one career as a fashion photographer between grad school and Les Bains Douche. Back in LA again, this time Venice Beach, he worked on numerous Hollywood film projects including: as assistant editor on Sam Raimi's Evil Dead II, art director on the Emmy Award winning NBC series Northern Exposure, art director on music videos for the budding Propaganda, assistant & producer to photographers such as Michael Childers, Peggy Sirota & Annie Leibovitz and variously as sound mixer and camera op. and photographer on numerous indie features, TV shows and commercials too forgettable to find online or seek credit for. In the late 80's Wolf moved to Laurel Canyon and on the side begin producing underground experiential events utilizing a host of installation and performance artist friends from Cal Arts that was a precursor to all things Burning Man. His tech-centric event named "RealTime" was built around newly emerging interactive tech, the first internet connectivity and first generation Virtual Reality. It was voted most cutting edge by US magazines 1989 - decade end issue. It was during this time he developed an early love for live experiential multimedia. Moving back to Europe again in the mid 90's Johann expanded his commercial eye as a Creative Director for advertising agencies - Bates, Saatchi, Leo Burnett twice, and Ogilvy. After opening several agency offices in newly available eastern European markets and sensing what was coming, in 1998 he founded the mega post-soviet commercial production company radioaktivefilm in Kiev Ukraine, which now produces an average of 70 commercials per year, as well as numerous music videos and other film and entertainment related projects. Coining the slogan "Soviet Style" Wolf became known globally as the Russian/Ukrainian go-to film connection quickly becoming the leader in forging foreign co- productions offering production services that utilize the regions cinematic locations, talent and cost effectiveness. In 2004 Wolf moved back to the Left Coast to raise his creative and clever daughter in the sanctuary of home town Ojai.
