Sam Worthington

“The film industry can be a tough place, but it's important to stay true to yourself and not lose sight of why we started doing this.” Worthington attended John Curtin College of the Arts, but left school at seventeen to settle in Sydney and take up construction and other odd jobs. At nineteen he was working as a builder, but maintained his desire to be an actor. He decided to audition for the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), where he was accepted and graduated in 1998. He displayed his talent in Australian films and series, even receiving the Australian Film Institute's award for Best Actor for his role in Somersault. Later, he reached Hollywood through films shot in his country, which allowed him to expand his possibilities. In 2007, James Cameron chose him to star in Avatar, a role that gave him a great boost to success and worldwide recognition.
