People want to see themselves represented by their heroes.” Benedict Wong is a British actor best known for playing the role of Wong in the Marvel Universe. Wong grew up in Salford and attended De La Salle Sixth Form College in the city, where he took two years of performing arts, a few years later he took his first steps in the industry, with the sitcom 15 Storeys High and the sitcom Look Around You. In 2003, he was nominated for the British Independent Film Awards as best supporting actor for his role in Dirty Pretty Things. In 2016 he had his first appearance in the Marvel Universe with the film Doctor Strange, playing his faithful companion Wong and has continued in this role in several other films including Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), among others. He has participated in other notable productions such as The Martian (2015), the episode Hated in the Nation of the Black Mirror series, and in the television series Marco Polo (2014-2016), where he played Kublai Khan. He lent his voice for the warrior Tong in the animated film Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) and for The Magician in The Magician's Elephant (2023). He was part of the series The Three-Body Problem (2024) and his performance was very well received. He has not only had a great career in film and television, but also in theater. Benedict Wong has stressed the importance of breaking stereotypes and creating roles that reflect the complexity and richness of Asian cultures and expressed his pride in belonging to projects of this kind.
