Yakim Yakimov Vassilev was born on May 18, 1925 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He graduated film directing in the Premier Film School in Lodz, Poland (1951). He was a member of the Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers (1957). He was an author of scripts for documentaries and directed some fiction movies. He received the Order "Cyril and Methodius" (1972). He died on October 20, 2009 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
