Miklos Wright

Miklos Wright is a motion picture editor who has partnered with Hollywood's finest filmmakers to create big budget shows enjoyed by millions of viewers across all platforms including cinema, television, cable, and streaming. A career established from many years of editing A-list productions, Wright is known for his work on Open Range, Luke Cage, Outlander, For All Mankind, and Foundation to name a few. With a reputation for excellence, he regularly surpasses the quality expected by his roster of studio clients, which includes Warner Brothers, MGM, Disney, TNT, ABC, NBC, HBO, FX, Sony, Starz, Netflix and AppleTV+. All a result of Wright's passion for creating stories that connect with audiences, and the lasting hope that quality entertainment is able to make a difference in people's lives. Wright was born in Berkeley California in 1966. His mother was a dancer and his father a musician. In the 1970's they relocated to New England, and his father started a record company recording primarily folk and blue grass music. Inspired to pursue a career in the visual arts, in 1985 Wright enrolled at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Between his junior and senior year, he earned his first credit as an assistant editor on the feature film Lobsterman From Mars. This experience cemented a passion for editing and from the day he graduated in 1989 he sought out opportunities in post-production. Intrigued by the grit of indie films, Miklos moved to NYC where he teamed with a grade school buddy, producer-director Demian Lichtenstein, to make the independent feature film, Lowball. Lichtenstein was a pioneer of non-linear editing and it was one of the first independent feature films to be edited on AVID. To fund post-production, the two pals made a lot of commercials and music videos, highlighted by: Probably Me for Eric Clapton, and Don't Sweat The Technique for hip hop stars Eric B. & Rakim. Lowball paid off when it attracted the attention of Kevin Costner who wanted to star in Lichtenstein's next feature film, 3000 Miles to Graceland. To edit the film, Wright moved to Los Angeles, where he has had continued luck making more films with Costner, including Open Range. Major motion pictures would remain Wright's focus, but after another ten feature films for studios like Sony, Fox, and Lionsgate the business industry model shifted to television. In 2008 the director of photography from Open Range, J. Michael Muro, recommended Wright to Emmy-winning executive producer Christopher Chulack to edit Southland. This launched Wright's career in episodic television, which includes work for major networks like Warner Bros/TBS, HBO/Cinemax, FX, Marvel/Netflix, NBC, and AppleTV+ on projects like Luke Cage, The Defenders, Outlander, For All Mankind, Foundation, and The Umbrella Academy. Wright is a union member of the IATSE Local 700, and American Cinema Editors. He has a BFA in Film & Television from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), class of '89. Miklos lives in Los Angeles with his wife Annie and their three children.
